!FilerPtch v0.01 3/7/97 Copyright © 1997 Robin Watts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a very rough and ready little utility to patch the filer so that it
doesn't chicken out of sorting big directories.
This has only been tested on RISC OS 3.7 at the moment, but I am sure people
will report bugs back pretty damn quick if theres a problem...
I recommend you run this in your boot sequence in the PreDesk directory (or
before the desktop starts at least!)
If you run it from the desktop all your filer icons will disappear, and you'll
need to do *Desktop from the 'New Task' menu option on the
switcher/Task Manager's icon bar menu.
Please let me know how you get on with this software.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This may be freely distributed via the Internet provided that this message
is included in all copies. It may also be copied from person to person where
no charge is made under the same conditions.
Anyone wishing to distribute this patch via a PD library, magazine cover
disc, with a commercial piece of software, or in any other way must contact
me for permission first. Such permission will usually be granted, but I want
to keep track of what happens with it (and avoid getting emails from people
asking about out of date versions that have been put on CDs etc without my
permission - not that this has happened before, oh no).
Thanks to Matt Rix, and Stewart Brodie for suggestions, and to Paul Gardiner
and Helen Rogers for putting up with me.
